Agricultural extension services and cooperatives in Sweden

Since the beginning of the 90ies, agricultural extension services in Sweden are mostly provided by private or cooperatives organisations (See Hans Gradén, 2009).

  • Hushållningssällskapet. "The Rural Economy and Agricultural Societies", is a federation of 17 independent societies providing advisory services to farmers and rural enterprises. Hushållningssällskapet has about 700 employees and 40,000 customers.

  • Lantmännen. Lantmännen is an important cooperative group (owned by Swedish farmers) in the agricultural sector in Sweden. It has about 8,500 employees (in 20 countries) and 32,000 members.

  • LRF Konsult. LRF Konsult is the advisory services branch of the Federation of Swedish Farmers (LRF). LRF Konsult has about 1500 employees (LRF has about 170,000 individual members).

  • Växa Sverige. Växa has about 500 employees and 8200 members. Växa Sverige is an important actor in animal husbandry (dairy farms) in Sweden.

  • Rådgivarna. Rådgivarna has about 40 employees and 650 members, and is connected to Hushållningssällskapet.

Water and environment consulting firms in Sweden

These companies provide consulting on geosciences, water and/or environment and operate in Sweden (and elsewhere). many of these companies operates on much broader area than 'just' environment. Number of employees is generally given worldwide (when relevant).

These companies provide consulting on pesticide registration or pesticide-related environment issues (in Europe). Number of employees is generally given worldwide (when relevant).
