    It's shaving off some memory since we have to recompute this LUT per pixel - previously we were storing a value (the computed undistorted R) which we never used

    It turned out that when the shader UI is loaded for the SECOND TIME (liek reentering a BFX/CFX segment)
    Smoke/Flame would just crash with an assertion. So what we've done is regenerated the UI descriptor using
    test_shader, and we'll see how far we can take it before it starts crashing again
