Extract and publish the archives... for the lulz.
ArchiveExtractor v. 0.0.1 enables Chrome users to extract Gchat messages and post them to social media or blogging platforms (such as Twitter).
ArchiveExtractor comprises the following:
A Google Chrome extension that listens for keywords in the active window and opens a dialogue box when heard. The default keywords are '#archive' and '#archived'. The dialogue box contents default to the two most recent chatMessages in the active Gchat window. They may be edited prior to clicking submit.
A Node.js web application that accepts submissions from the Google Chrome extension and routes them to the appropriate social media or blogging platform via the associated API.
- Download the
- Open Google Chrome. In Settings => Tools => Extensions, ensure that "Developer mode" is checked.
- Select "Load unpacked extension..." and select the
chrome_extensiondirectory. Make sure the "Enable" box is checked.
- You should see the ArchiveExtractor icon in the upper-right corner of your Chrome window. Open Gmail, start a Gchat session, and click the ArchiveExtractor icon.
