Hello Folks, hello Jeffrey,

i am trying hard to get the spectometry_kit to work on windows 7. I tried both the spectometry_kit.pde and windows.application/spectometry_kit.exe the latter comes back with a black screen after execution. The first get stucked at the import codeanticode.gsvideo.* line with the message:

No library found for GSVideo
As of release 1.0, libraries must be installed in a folder named 'libraries' inside the 'sketchbook' folder.

pops up in the processing gui after execution. And yes i've copied both the controlP5 and GSVideo in the libraries folder of the sketchbook root folder ;-) And fiddled around with jar file decompression, putting the *.class files everywhere, everytime more or less the same error message.

Any idea to solve the root of this problem ?

Hi, Max -- thanks so much for posting this as an issue! it's very helpful.

I believe you could get it working by installing Quicktime, and then in theory it should be able to use the Quicktime-Java bridge. It's set up to use it by default if it does not detect Linux (see https://github.com/jywarren/spectral-workbench/blob/master/spectrometry_kit/src/models/video.java, line 68) but tell me what happens.

Hopefully this will bypass the GSVideo issue entirely.

(I also had a problem which yielded the same error as you, where I had my sketchbook inside of my Dropbox folder and it kept renaming it 'Libraries' instead of 'libraries'. But i doubt that's related to your issue.)

Success!

I got the program to work in Windows 7, under 64-bit as well.

The Processing.org framework uses QuickTime for Java, and appears to be somewhat flakey on Windows vs Mac.

Reference page: http://wiki.processing.org/w/Video_Issues

You need:

Quicktime for Windows - http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/
These instructions: http://rsbweb.nih.gov/ij/plugins/qt-install.html
WinVDIG: http://www.eden.net.nz/7/20071008/

Install QuickTime, follow the instructions to make sure the QTJava.zip file is copied to the java lib/ext folder.

Install WinVDIG version 1.0.1 - versions 1.0.5 did not work.

Once those are installed, the spectrometry_kit.windows executable should work just fine.

I opened the app, and the camera settings control panel appeared, and I picked "none" for the compression.

Hello!

I installed the spectral software but I get a gray screen...

I installd the qtime7
But it isn't clear for me...to where should i copy the QTJava.zip

I copied that into
D:\jywarren-spectral-workbench-a430934\spectrometry_kit\application.windows\lib\ext\

and i renameed that to QTJava.jar

That didn't work.

Than i installed the WinVDIG 1.01
but i got an error message...miss the qtcf.dll... :D
I installd the WinVDIG 1.04...the result is also

The spectral software didn't work...

Than i downloaded the qtcf.dll from the internet....
i copied into the c:\windows\system32
and the folder of the WinVDIG too

The specstral software didn't work...
And the WinVDIG got an error message...miss the qtcf.dll... :D

Than i open the start menu-->run
i write: cdm
dhan i write: regsvr 32 qtcf.dll
enter.

restart the cpomputer...

The specstral software didn't work...
And the WinVDIG got a new error message:
Loading of qtcf.dll is ready, but not found the entry point DllRegisterServer. The file can not be registered.

Than i deleted the qtcf.dll from the windows\system32 folder and from the folder of the WinVDIG too.

Than the WinVDIG is run, without error message... :O
But the spectral software isn't work... :D :D :D

I don't understand...

QTJava.zip goes into the Java lib/ext folder. On XP, it would probably be in C:\Program Files\java\jre6\lib\ext Look in the C:\program files\Java\ folder for the jre* folder, and look under there.

OK, i found there the QTJava.zip file, but whither should i copy that?
I rename that QTjava.jar, and copied to everywhere.

i copied to C: \ Program Files \ Java \ jre6 \ lib \ ext
and to the quicktime folder into the plugin folder
and to the folders of spectral software...
biut it isn't work

I don't think that you're supposed to rename the QTJava.zip file. Also, when I installed QuickTime, it automatically placed the file in the correct directory. You might want to try un-installing QuickTime, Uninstalling Java, then re-installing QuickTime and then re-installing Java. Have you tried the webcam to see if it works first?

I reinstalled the quicktime, and the java, but the problem was the WinVDIG
I had to install the v0.9.9, and it works. :)
Thanks a lot!
