And welcome to the vibrant tapestry of my public coding persona 🤓
At heart, I’m a problem-solver and a lifelong learner. What began as tinkering and coding has taken me through different corners of the tech world, including:
- Partner & Technical Director – led technical direction and delivery at an agency that, at the time of my exit, had earned two Gazelle awards in its first years of eligibility
- Product & Engineering Lead – steering vision, monetization, and technical direction for products and cross-continental teams at Automattic Inc
- Strategic Partnership Engineer – built licensing and unified billing systems, adapted internal product APIs into partner‑ready integrations, and guided technical implementations, powering security products for hundreds of thousands of websites
- Conference and meetup organizer (and speaker)
Git Rake is an interactive terminal UI that allows you to easily do bulk operations on Git branches.
Practical example: assuming you work full time on a project, and you do manual testing of your colleague's pull requests, you'll quickly end up with loads of branches and jumping between your own active branches can become more annoying if you're not actively pruning branches.
So! git rake provides users with an easier way to prune branches that would otherwise require a combination of e.g. git branch --merged | fzf --multi and xargs git branch -d to do it in an efficient manner.
Aside: it also introduces a new "trash system" that moves branches from refs/heads/* to a custom refs/rake-trash/* namespace. This allows you to restore branches later on, if you regret "trashing" them.
My involvement in open source is mostly from working directly with a tool - whether professionally or personally - and then submitting fixes, improvements, and translations when I see an opportunity to make things better.
You'll find my contributions in Danish translations for WordPress, as well as code contributions to Drupal core, Drupal modules, Classy theme that launched with Drupal 8, Gutenberg – the new WordPress editor, Jetpack, Jetpack CRM, WooCommerce, WooCommerce Shipping, WooCommerce Tax, ElasticPress (Elasticsearch), and other places across the internet where I’ve stumbled across something worth fixing or improving.
