GenericServer

About

This is a basic Android Socket Server, with a standalone version provided as well. By default it will answer http responses on port 4242. There are built in functions available using a RESTful API (documentation on its way). Also, a user directory may be specified, from which the server will send files when requested using the /user/FILENAME API call.

Requires

The following java libraries are required. All libraries are Open Source and the version used in development is provided in the libs/ subdirectory.

License

With the exception of third-party libraries in the libs/ directory (see Requires), everything may be used under the terms of the GNU General Public License version 3. For details see the LICENSE file or go to http://www.gnu.org/licenses/gpl.html

SSL

GenericServer is able to serve content using SSL. The android app looks for a keystore, called server.keystore, in the /mnt/sdcard directory. If it exists and a correct password is entered in the password text box, SSL is used. If the file does not exist or if the password text box is empty, SSL is not used.

SSL has been tested on Android 2.3 using the Bouncy Castle 1.46 provider (BKS keystore type). This provider jar may be found at http://repo2.maven.org/maven2/org/bouncycastle/bcprov-ext-jdk15on/1.46/bcprov-ext-jdk15on-1.46.jar and is available under their own license found at http://www.bouncycastle.org/licence.html.
