Reported for NBAndroid.

The issue caused by the init script being encoded in UTF-8 while Gradle uses platform default encoding to parse script files.

There multiple things to do here:

  • Encode the scripts with the proper encoding (considering the specified "file.encoding").
  • Do not add non-ascii characters to the build script (use \uXXXX for all characters above 127).

Workaround: Specify "-Dfile.encoding=UTF8" in the Global settings for JVM arguments.
