It would be nice to have a lot of translations! A translation can be done by everyone without programming skills.

In order to translate dudle into a new language do the following steps:

  • download the dudle.pot file and rename it to dudle.po
  • translate sentences and phrases in your dudle.po file
  • send me the dudle.po file

Hi, Might it be worth moving some of the translations to a translation platform? A start is at https://translate.zanata.org/project/view/Dudle

Now that Zanata is dead, will you be willing to consider Weblate?

Weblate is open source software with a github repository, but hosting needs to be arranged. A number of contributors are also using Transifex. The present system using po files requires more technical sophistication than one of the translation platforms and does not allow for easy automation, but gives translators with computer expertise choice in how they translate.

@kellerben Thoughts on translation would be helpful, can help with transitioning translation to a platform such as Weblate that would enable a wider variety of users to contribute translations.

There is already a dutch translation. However, you can review / improve it. See the file /locale/nl/dudle.po and look for untranslated sentences.

Hi
I've translated it into Polish; in a few places we'll probably need corrections; especially
in "#: ../access_control.rb:184" I'm not sure what "controls" means and
in #: ../index.cgi:71 a context of "Go away." and in #: ../not_found.cgi:34 a text: “Delete poll.
And I do not know the .po format, so the fil is pure .txt
doodle.txt

There is already a french translation: https://github.com/kellerben/dudle/blob/master/locale/fr/dudle.po
If you find any errors there, you can improve the file.
