NOTE: It has been seen that synchronisation between desktop and server version of Note Station is inconsistent with notes created in one not being fully synchronised into the other. When making an export from Note station that has synchronisation issues, the export will not report any issues. Typically, the missing content is files attachments - images and files - and some data fields used to describe the data set. As an example one export was 1.05 GB from the web app and only 365 MB from the desktop app, this size difference was 272 missing file attachments. As Note station is not the most reliable or consistent note tool you may find the web or desktop app works for you, or to get a full set of notes you may need to export fomr both and then take the good notes from each set.
NOTE: The web app does not decrypt any encrypted notes when you export. If you have many encrypted notes you may wish to try exporting from the desktop app which has an additional step where it asks you to provide a password for each encrypted note. Details of this step are at the bottom of this page
The following instructions use the web server versoin of Note station, the desktop version is very similar.
Decrypt any encrypted notes before export
If you are using the desktop app the notes can be decrypted as part of the export wizzard. See Desktop Export Decryption
Prior to exporting form the web application if you wish to export your encrypted notes you must first copy them to an un-encrypted note.
Right click on each encrypted note and choose Encrypt from the menu. (yes it's a bit crazy to have to choose to encrypt to decrypt something)

In the window that appears choose 'copy to an unencrypted note' and enter the password.

If you miss a file the conversion results will report any encrypted files that were not converted correctly.
Exporting a nsx file from the web application
The following steps are almost identical in the desktop application.
To export you Note-Station Data start the Note-Station web app in Synology DSM.

In the top right click on the button 'settings'

In the window that appears click on the 'Import and Export' tab and then click on the 'Export' Button in the 'Export Notebooks or To-do List' section

In the next window click on select and browse to a folder where you want the export file to be saved to, then click 'Next'.

In the next window tick 'Notebook' and click 'Next'

In the next window tick the notebooks you wish to export and then click 'Next'

You will be returned to the settings screen, and your notebooks will begin to be exported.
NOTE: The progress does not update very frequently, it can take many minutes for a large set of data, and may feel like it is not working, patience is required.

Now move the exported .nsx file using a shared network folder, as the file will likely be too large to download from the DSM web page, and place it in the data folder used by YANOM.
Goto converting NSX files in YANOM
Desktop Export Decryption
If you export from the desktop app, and you have an encrypted note you will be prompted to provide a password for each encrypted note during the export process.

Tick the box beside the note title and then enter the password
