The Topotime project is developing a data model, an extension to the GeoJSON data format (GeoJSON-T), a D3 timeline layout, and functions for representing and computing over complex spatial-temporal phenomena, particularly for historical applications. As its name suggests, Topotime aims to expand the notion of a geographic feature to include temporal entities such as instances and flows of geographic movement, and historical periods. As such, its models and software treat the spatial and temporal attributes of geographic phenomena co-equally.
