This entry in the FAQ could be improved. The current solution is to add ENV option when running sudo. There's an alternative why to let sudo command permanently keep the correct TERMINFO.

Based on the trick provided here, one can edit the /etc/sudoers.d/visudo file by executing this shell command:

sudo visudo

Then add the following content:

Defaults env_keep += "TERM TERMINFO"

Save the file and from now on sudo can correctly identify xterm-kitty. This is tested on Clear Linux (27910). #1398
