The text variation selector breaks display

Describe the bug

It's a continuation of #8731 and #8782. Text variation selector still looks strange in kitty. I build kitty from source using latest src (35d3b63).

To Reproduce

Steps to reproduce the behavior:

1. printf "\u26ab\ufe0e\u4e00\u4e00\u4e00\u4e00\u4e00\u26ab\ufe0e"

2. kitty 0.42.1 hangs forever and kitty (35d3b63) renders incorrectly.

   First image is output of kitty (It's run by <kitty> --config NONE) and second image is the output of alacritty.
