Did this for myself and saw a few issues on it such as #7111.
I know the owner is not too fond of it, but given it's an option, and default behavior remains unchanged I decided to open a PR regardless, especially for people with tilers there are other indicators of window focus, and aesthetics are subjective after all.
Checked under bspwm on X and hyprland on Wayland.
