The web plugin doesn't grab mouse input for me under chrome or FF 3.5 in Kubuntu 64 bit, leaving me unable to test the plugin further

Hmm, which Kubuntu?

Works ok for me on Ubuntu 9.10; on Ubuntu 9.04 keyboard input is broken (GTK is too old).

I'm using Kubuntu 9.10. Mouse input, resolution and keyboard input is broken

Well, the plugin uses GTK, but it should still work ok on Kubuntu.

I don't have a Kubuntu install to test on, but perhaps someone else can verify if it is indeed broken on all Kubuntu systems.

There's a chance that there's something funky with my checkout, because the physics plugin and the terrain slope plugin doesn't work either
