Calling electrumx_rpc query <addresses or hex scripts> results in error making request: RPCError(-32603, 'internal server error').

I checked the log with journalctl -u electrumx -f and found the following:

Traceback (most recent call last):
   File "/usr/local/lib/python3.6/dist-packages/aiorpcx/session.py", line 109, in _throttled_request
     result = await self.handle_request(request)
   File "/usr/local/lib/python3.6/dist-packages/electrumx/server/session.py", line 700, in handle_request
     return await coro
   File "/usr/local/lib/python3.6/dist-packages/electrumx/server/session.py", line 430, in rpc_query
     for arg in args:
 NameError: name 'args' is not defined

My Python abilities are not very good but I checked the respective lines in session.py whereas args is actually not defined.
