It is really useful have the capability in the Desktop app to search within the current note. Would it be possible to add an indication if there are no occurrences in the note of the specified search string? For example, Firefox does this by changing the background colour of the search box if your search string doesn’t exist within the web page - here are a couple of screenshots:

Discussed this on the forum at https://discourse.joplinapp.org/t/desktop-app-search-in-current-note-indicate-if-there-are-no-occurrences/3439 and Laurent requested that I create a feature request on GitHub.

Many thanks.

Related to this, if the search box is already open and you then type Ctrl-F , it would be great if the contents of the search box could then be automatically selected. This makes it easier to change the search string by just pasting in a fresh search string (again this is Firefox search functionality) - otherwise you need to manually select the current search string and delete/overwrite it, or else close the search box and start over. (Let me know if this should be treated as a separate enhancement request.) Thanks very much.
