    Images must live in `app/assets`.

    Otherwise they can not be served from our app. Images in `public/images` can only be served from `/images`, which does not point to this application under the router.
    I have left the grid images there, because I believe they are only used for development.

    This is because the router doesn't map /images to our backend. Using the asset pipeline results in a URL that is routable.

    …development and production.
    It uses a relative path to find the sprite, but the css is compiled to two different paths on different environments.  On development it used to appear in admin/chosen.css while in production it would be in application.css.  Moving it to the top level gets around this.
