Ironically the free one is working using google log in, so it is just the paid one, on the contrary they should be prioritizing fixing that issue instead of the free guys.

They don't seem to even know or acknowledge this is happening. Paid software shouldn't be down for 2 days, even just one hour is really really bad customer service, cancelling premium as soon as I get access bad and leaving a bad review right now about the pro version. It seems these is their normal since I am seeing really bad reviews already about the pro services. leave yours too, maybe the marketing department will care. https://www.trustpilot.com/review/openai.com

I already reached sales to complain and already asked for a refund. Here is a free refund me my money template generated by the free chat gpt version that free users can use but not paying customers:

the email goes to: refunds@openai.com

Subject: Refund Request for ChatGPT Plus Subscription

Dear OpenAI Customer Support Team,

I am writing to request a refund for my ChatGPT Plus subscription. The service has been down for two days now, and there has been no communication from OpenAI about the issue. As a paying customer, I am extremely disappointed with the lack of support and attention given to paid subscribers.

I have seen numerous complaints and frustrations from other customers on this Github issue feed: #671. It is unacceptable that paid subscribers are being ignored and left in the dark while free users are receiving priority attention.

I understand that technical issues can be complex, but the lack of transparency and communication from OpenAI is unacceptable. As a result, I would like a full refund for my ChatGPT Plus subscription.

Thank you for your attention to this matter. I hope to receive a prompt response regarding my refund request.

Sincerely,
[Your Name]

I mean at $20/month it’s super cheap. Also, this isn’t a paid subscriber problem. It’s an SSO problem. Anyone trying to sign in via SSO can’t get in. I opened another account that doesn’t use SSO and it’s fine.

When the issues is fixed I’ll have them cancel one account. 🤷🏼‍♀️

It’s super annoying but they aren’t just ignoring people who pay.

$20 a month for a product that is constantly down or flat out doesn't work is not cheap.
SSO problem or not, I can't access the product I paid for and have been attempting to rely on.
It puts a bad taste in my mouth and is not right, wether you are experiencing the problem or not.

It’s not constantly down though. This is the first time I’ve ever had a problem at all.

They should absolutely issue some refunds for the time it’s been down. Two days is ridiculous, but when you look at the product overall, I think $20 a month is a fair price.

The price is affordable for sure, that's literally a beer here in New York. But the issue is not the $20 dollars is the breach of trust. Also consider the low pricing a causality of having billions of users, is a discount for volume so it is not that cheap in that sense.

Any paid service should strive to be online or at the very least give priority to paid customers. That is not the case here, perhaps because I am also a UX designer is that I'm extra picky about how wrong this is. It is unacceptable that a company that is collecting 20 dollars from 100 million active users making an estimated 70 million dollars to have their paid product down for 2 days and have 0 customer service for it.

Assuming a conversion rate of around 2-5% (which is a standard rate for a subscription-based service), we can estimate the number of paying customers for a product that has 100 million active users.

If we take the midpoint of the conversion rate (i.e., 3.5%), we can calculate the number of paying customers as follows:

  • Number of paying customers = 100 million * 0.035 = 3.5 million

  • Therefore, the product would have approximately 3.5 million paying customers.

  • If each paying customer is paying $20 per month for the product, then the monthly revenue generated by the product would be:

  • Monthly revenue = 3.5 million * $20 = $70 million

So based on these assumptions, a product that costs $20 per month and has 100 million active users with a standard conversion rate of 2-5% could potentially generate monthly revenue of around $70 million.

Of course, it's important to note that these are just estimates and there are many factors that could affect the actual number of paying customers and revenue generated.

I absolutely agree. I think maybe I’m not wording my responses right.

I absolutely agree that it’s wrong for this service to be down for 2 days with 0 customer service options or notifications or communication of any kind. I 100% believe they should be fixing the problem ASAP and issuing refunds.

I just meant the issue isn’t a paid subscriber issue. Everyone who uses SSO to sign in is having problems, not just paid subscribers. So idk if they can fix it for paid subscribers faster? I think once it’s fixed it’s fixed for everyone.

While I acknowledge their rapid growth, they should at least release a press statement or some form of official communication acknowledging the ongoing issues and outlining their commitment to addressing them.

An employee from OpenAI has stated in an issue posted on their Github tracker, that he has notified the development team of the problem.

We know the following now:

  • The issue involves signing in with Google, for both paid and free users.
  • The only way to circumvent this, and access the application is to invite a new user to your account, and use that user to sign in, or create an entirely new account.
  • The development team has been notified about the problem.

Please refrain from posting in this thread if you do not have any new information about the issue. This is an open source repo, for a piece of software that allows you to access ChatGPT as a desktop application - not a chat forum. No one from OpenAI is going to read your message here. Things such as "I lost 20 USD", "Give me my money back" and posting your Ray ID from CloudFlare is not going to help anything but notice the 80+ participants following this thread as well as the contributors of this repository.
