NOTOC
Denis Pitzalis has updated his Windows nip2 installer to nip2-7.10.7.
New stable version, with updated binaries and sources. Not much new for linux users, but the windows binary should be much faster and have fewer repaint problems.
Denis Pitzalis has made a windows installer for nip2-7.10.5, so life's a bit easier for windows users. Check the download page.
We've put up sources for 7.10.6 for vips and nip2, but the changes are mostly just small build fixes to help Debian, so there are no new binaries. Also: announcements posted on the various sites with VIPS pages.
7.10.5 is finally the new stable version. We'll leave it to bed in for a couple of days in case of terrible errors anywhere, and then announce it to the world. Many thanks to everyone who helped get this ready.
Ahem, no vips final today, we had a powercut and I'm rebuilding servers.
7.10.4-beta is up. Lots more bugfixes, final menu items now in, fixes to help Debian packaging (thanks Jay). I spent another fruitless couple of evenings trying to make a Mac build :-( but there are windows and linux binaries. This is now the final week of beta: next Monday we'll put up 7.10.5 officially.
7.10.3-beta is up. New: lots of bugfixes, speed-ups, documentation. Windows and Linux binaries. Almost there!
7.10.2-beta is up. There are windows and linux binaries, source packages and ebuilds (thanks Ruven). New: better binary packages, bugfixes, a rather cool Toolkit Browser, small menu improvements.
We have a nip2 windows binary! It's rather cool. Threads seem to work, quite a bit of other stuff is still untested. Any success/failure reports very welcome. New linux binary tomorrow.
Version 7.10 is done, but we're expecting some problems to crop up still. Daring users only for now. Sources and a linux binary on the development page.
New vips/nip2 snapshot up, nip2-7.9.6. This really is about the final one, there's a bit of menu reorganising to do still and documentation to update, but that's it. Big new features: batch processing mode, new gtk file chooser dialog, text rendering, font picker widget, better file picker widget, many, many bug fixes.
New development VIPS snapshot vips-7.9.4 up:
- The default area operations (convolution, morphology, resize, etc) now all extend their input rather than adding a black border to the output. Result: no more black borders on filtered images.
- This comes from the addition of an edge-stretch mode to im_embed(). There is also mirror and flip.
- The affine resampler has been reworked and is now 25% faster and gives (I hope) pixel-perfect results.
- Float to int rounding policy rationalised, now same as C in all cases.
- Use of Xoffset and Yoffset header fields rationalised. They now always mark the position in the output image of the input image's origin.
- Various small improvements and fixes, see the ChangeLog.
I've added some examples to the vips-7.8 area. There's code for writing plugins, for writing your own image processing operations, and some stuff using the C++ API (thanks Ruven). There are a few demo images in there, hence the huge size. The download page has some tips on building.
New linux and win32 binaries for 7.8.14, plus a new source varball for vips-7.8.14. The last one had debugging turned on for im_max(), and the win32 zip file was missing Joe's batch scripts.
Unfortunately my Mac is still ill :-( so there's no mac binary yet.
New sources and binaries for 7.8.14. These fix a few problems people have found over the last 10 days.
New development source tarballs are up. I think it's finished! We're going to try making an initial binary release, then work on the documentation and the translations.
New vips-7.8.14 binaries up, for Windows and Linux. No Mac binaries, my Mac is sick :-( sorry. Summary:
- will load damaged jpeg files
- better PNG write
- fixed a crash saving large images (>10 MBytes) directly (ie. no processing done) to a non-vips format
- fix to FFTs of non-square images
New vips-7.8.14 tarball, fixing some configure problems on FreeBSD. Thanks Lev.
Still no binaries, we're waiting on some more reports of success.
New version of vips-7.8 stable fixes a few bugs and should be more portable. Source only for now, we'll put up updated binaries in 10 days or so.
New development snapshot. The VIPS library is now based on glib2 (breaking nip1 builds, will be fixed), lots of small enhancements and bugfixes to nip2.
VIPS and nip are now available on FreeBSD (via ports) and on Gentoo (via emerge, I think). Many thanks to Lev Serebryakov and to Ruven Pillay.
