Use Scala package objects to support much simpler importing including Helpers._

indrajitr commented Feb 23, 2011

Regarding Helpers._, should we consider moving them to net.liftweb.common.helpers and expose them via package objects in net.liftweb.common and net.liftweb.util? The later one being deprecated along the way.

This could be a very tricky move... and I'm not sure it's possible as there may be some JSON references in Helpers.

You're welcome to take the ticket and try it.

@dpp any chance you could just show a quick line indicating how you would import instead of the current approach?

dpp commented May 10, 2014

No clue... sorry. I wrote the comment when I remembered how Scala package objects worked... :-(

That's cool. I think with no additional input and no clear ideas, I'm going to go ahead and close the ticket. Someone else will come up with it at some point ;)
