The logout gui and shutdown gui un-themed in the latest git snapshots, I'm sure these gui's were themed before?

Good question - facing the same issues still in 1.3.1. Hasn't really changed in the last snapshot from the merlwiz79 repos...

I actually don't believe these were themed in the past. I started using Cinnamon around 1.1.2 era and I'm pretty sure they were un-themed then. I think there was a ticket for it as well at some point.

@monochromec merlwiz79 repository for Cinnamon is no longer being updated according to him. 1.2.0 is in there now.

You would be better off using https://launchpad.net/~gwendal-lebihan-dev/+archive/cinnamon-stable to stay up to date.

@psych I sure it was themed in 1.0.0 :-)

Yeah, you're right. I started thinking about it and it was themed. And then I checked in the current and it was themed. It just didn't look like it to me. Apologies.

Which is odd as I just pulled 1.3.1 from the merlwiz79 repo (at least according to the logs).

Just to be crystal clear on the symptoms: when "un-themed" is mentioned an absent behaviour of the GUI elements is meant, i.e. the buttons are present but defunct. What I'm experiencing is that when I press shutdown or logout nothing happens at all.

That would be odd: Is it this PPA you're mentioning? https://launchpad.net/~merlwiz79/+archive/cinnamon-ppa

That just has 1.2 in it. Maybe you have another PPA active?

Sorry - you're right. Got confused - Mint directly pulled it from the official Lisa repo. Thanks for the hint about the defunct repo - will purge.

Any thoughts / ideas about the original issue?

After renaming dbus paths gnome-session fails connect to cinnamon to display logout dialog. If connection fails then gnome-session displays gtk-based ("un-themed") fallback dialog.

There patch for restore communication with gnome-session. Patch is not well tested, probably it breaks something other.

Sorry, misunderstanding. In the version I was referring to earlier on, the functions of the pop-up menu are simply dead. No further query dialog, nothing. It's like the functionality is missing from the GUI at all. Is this issue (which is really annoying from a usability perspective) going to be addressed in a future release of this otherwise great software?

Perhaps. Commit rat4@33337b5 also introduces regressions. I think some developer will have to look into the DBus naming conventions to finally solve this problem (and others).

@rat4 I also asked clefebvre to look into this. He said that the commit in its current form couldn't be included because of the suspend/hibernate regressions. But I hope #522 will fix that.

I have opened another issue on these dialogs, concerning their lack of keyboard usability: #717.

In Mint 13's Cinnamon it's now fixed. Or maybe the fix came from some upstream Gnome component.
Close the issue?

I don't think we'll see any more updates to 12's Cinnamon repo package. At least not extensive changes like this one.

Closing due to inactivity. If you think this still might be an issue, see the instructions here to try a newer version. If the problem still exists, we'll reopen the issue.
