Mint 13 will have cinnamon, so a 12.04 compatible version will appear anywhere soon. It's indeed true that some people are working on 12.04 compatibility.

Cinnamon will work if muffin if patched, I've done a patch based on Rat4's gtk33 branch.

You may find cinnamon-setting broken by changes, I also have a patch for that.

Yes, it's possible to compile using the configure option below , I believe upstream changed the compiler flags to suppress these errors in later mutter releases.

./configure --enable-compile-warnings=yes

That's great, but are they going to hit a stable ppa? Or only 1.5?

Muffin 1.0.2 won't run anymore on ubuntu 12.04 since some gnome components were updated. There hasn't been any stable muffin version since then but as Mint 13 will be based on 12.04 I think it'll appear soon.

Cinnamon and muffin are now available for Precise in both the nightly and stable PPAs.
