On a fresh start of nemo, all bookmarks have the standard folder icon. Once you click into a bookmark, the folder icon is loaded and displayed next to the bookmark.

Expected behavior: when bookmarks are loaded, folder icon is loaded

initial view
after navigating into each bookmark

I've noticed this as well. I've changed all the icons of my bookmarked folders to "stars", and occasionally (like after a fresh restart/logout) when I open Nemo/Files, the default/generic icons are loaded for some bookmarks instead of the specific folders' icons.

@MiY4Gi what distro are you running?

This seems to work fine for me running Mint 14, but @rjanja has this issue with LMDE

Trying to narrow down what may be the cause.

Mint 14, Linux 3.7.0 (or 3.7.1 not sure), with latest Cinnamon (1.6.7 I think). I'm also using the Nvidia Proprietory drivers, and have a dual monitor setup, if that info is relevant. Just let me confirm whether I do indeed have the same problem - coz you see, I only ever restart/logout when my Desktop gives me problems, specifically the problem that arises occasionally when my pc is left unattended for a long time (e.g. overnight). Sometimes I find that my PC has frozen, or that my login password field is missing (although I can still type my password and login). So I can't rule out the possibility that I have a hardware or driver issue.

Okay, so I'm gonna do a quick, clean restart then check whether the problem persists. Then I'll report back.

Alright, firstly I'm using Linux 3.7.1-030701-generic. And, I've just realized/remembered something. The icons of mine that are initially incorrect, and those that belong to folders from one of my mounted hard drives. They do not belong to folders in /home nor /root. Perhaps that has something to do with it. Anyway, I created bookmarks for folders on my mounted hard drive, which I automount at system startup -- the drive is mounted in /media, by the way -- and when I initially run Nemo, the Bookmarks, EXCLUDING the one for /Downloads in /home, all have the default folder icon.

So, somehow the bookmark icons for folders on the /root and /home partitions get displayed correctly when Nemo is opened for the first time, while bookmark icons for folders on my mounted drive are incorrect. I would hazard a guess that if you created a bookmark for a folder on a usb flash drive, then the same thing would happen when you restart.

My problem might be different from rjanja though, but the symptoms appear to be the same.

The last update broke the icon functionality completely. It used to change the icon when you navigated to the folder, but now it never changes the icon. It might also be related to #683
