# Docks and Positions

Ledge can keep up to eight Dock presets at the same time. Each preset is independent.

## Preset controls

At the top of Ledge settings:

- Click a Dock name to edit that preset.
- Edit **Preset name** to rename it.
- Use the copy button to duplicate the selected Dock.
- Use the trash button to delete it. Ledge always keeps at least one Dock.
- Use **+** to create another Dock.

Duplicating a Dock copies its items and settings, but Ledge assigns it another free position.

## One Dock per position

The eight available positions are **Left**, **Right**, **Top**, **Bottom**, **Top left**, **Top right**, **Bottom left**, and **Bottom right**.

A position can belong to only one Dock preset. Once a position is used, it disappears from the Position dropdown of the other Docks.

**Disabled Docks still reserve their position.** If a position seems to be missing, check every preset, including disabled ones. Delete the old preset or move it to another position to release that position.

## Corner positions

Corner Docks arrange their items in a 90-degree L shape. Their auto-hide trigger is drawn as two rounded perpendicular pill arms rather than a square block.

## Where a Dock is anchored

**Top**, **Bottom**, **Top left**, and **Top right** follow the active view's content area. This helps them stay aligned with the note, Base, canvas, or other active view when the workspace is split.

Left/right and the lower corner positions use the surrounding workspace pane geometry.

## Edge offset

**Layout → Edge offset** moves the Dock inward from its selected edge without changing the position type. Use a small offset when the Dock overlaps another theme element or when you want more space from the pane edge.
