I built PIE from latest commit (ebdc675) and tried the border-image test (tests/border-image-test.html).

While it works perfectly when right clicking and opening the file in IE8, it fails if I try to move /build/ and /tests/ under localhost apache root and access the page
Other tests work perfectly, even in localhost.
I also checked the image path, tried making it absolute, and it can definitely be reached.

I am at a loss about what's wrong, as there is not even an error I can look into. Any ideas?

Thanks for reporting this, I'm aware of it. There's some quirk in VML that makes it fail when setting a rect's imagedata at certain times. I've got local code that uses a plain shape rather than a rect and it seems to work better, but I need to test it more before committing.

Jason Johnston Change border-image renderer to use simple shapes with an image fill …
…rather than rects with imagedata. This prevents the images from sometimes not getting painted after a long load, and fixes the issue with gaps sometimes appearing between slices.
