If you search for:

httpClientBuilder.setKeepAliveStrategy(DefaultConnectionKeepAliveStrategyHC4.INSTANCE);

in AsyncHttpClientOptions.java you'll notice in the buildHttpClient() regardless of the KeepConnectionsAlive mutator it still gets set. Sorry I wasn't able to commit a patch from the computer I'm debugging on right now.

This applies to version 1.5.0.
