rake yard always fails with:
rake aborted!
uninitialized constant YARD::CLI

--trace tracks it down to line 66 of yard/rake/yardoc_task.rb
yardoc = YARD::CLI::Yardoc.new

Here is my yardoc task based on the example:

require "yard/rake/yardoc_task"

YARD::Rake::YardocTask.new do |yard|
    yard.files   = ["readme.md", "license.txt", "doc/Getting Started.html", "doc/tu du.txt", "doc/Byte Code Reference.html", 'lib/**/*.rb']   # optional
    # yard.options = ['--any', '--extra', '--opts'] # optional
end

By the way that is with yard 0.7.5 & rake 0.9.2.2, on MRI ruby 1.9.3p0 & Ubuntu 11.10 Oneiric Linux x86-64. I also am using Bundler 1.1.0, but called yard from rake directly at the bash command line as mentioned above.

Don't require the yardoc_task directly. You should always require 'yard'

Don't require yardoc_task directly
Error was:
