New process don't die

Hi!

I tested your project and i see one problem: The new connections create a new process, but on the end connection the new process isn't destroyed, for this issue the number of process is increased and doesn't dies

Any solution?

exit(0)

after

client->close();
printf( "[%s] Disconnected\n", $client->getAddress() );

in onConnect function

I'm having the same problem. Threads just pile up, I have added exit(0) to many locations in the code but they never seem to be reached, Even using the sample code. It seems to be a timeout problem? Since if I wait a LONG time, I mean hours it eventually exits. Even if I close the connection properly from the client side.

more information... it's quite strange. If the connection is active the command that shows up in the process list is:
/opt/cpanel/ea-php56/root/usr/bin/php-cgi /home/.../server.php

but then after the connection has been closed it shows up as:
[php-cgi]

Ok, I've got a fix, hopefully it doesn't have any long-term negative consequences.

In the "onConnect" function I made the following changes:

    if ($pid == -1) {
        _echo('could not fork');
        die();
    } else if ($pid) {
        // parent process handles client
    } else {
        return;// new child handles next connection
    }

And added "exit(0);" at the very end of the function.

Memory seems stable and no extra threads after the connection is closed.

To my understanding you haven't solved the root cause of the problem.

Instead change the while loop within onConnect Method:

$endless = true;
 while ($endless) {
  $read = $client->read();  
  if ($read === "") {
    $endless = false;
  } else {
    printf ("valid data received: %s\n", $read);
  }
}
$client->close ();
exit (0);

One more suggestion: maybe devide the read-method into two pieces:

• first read the errorcode of read operation
• then in a second call read the buffer

One more suggestion: I added a timeout in SocketClient to close the socket from the server when client is not sending data:
