Hello! Thanks for the plugin. I'm using folders to organize notes that will eventually be stitched together into very very long files, probably in software outside Obsidian. As such, I'm interested in knowing the number of words in all files in a given folder (plus the various associated stats, e.g. count deltas on those folders, etc.).

Is such an addition possible?

I came here to request exactly the same thing.

An idea would be to create an "outline file" which only contains wiki-links to other notes. And then a command that displays word/char counts for each wiki-linked note. maybe by just appending the count after the wikilink, e.g.:

[[linked note]] - 230 words
[[linked note 2]] - 402 words

My preference is to be able to configure "total in parent folder" as one of the status bar options but whatever works!

Hi thank you for creating this issue. This has been suggested by many people on the discord and Reddit. So it is definitely on the list. I'm not sure how it will be implemented yet. Probably as a status bar option. Thank you for the other suggestions as well.

@lukeleppan Thanks for considering! I also very much support @kevboh’s suggestion, since I also use his Longform plugin.

@lukeleppan I would love to see word count per folder on the Status bar as well. NaNoWriMo starts on Nov 1, is there any chance of a solution by then? Thanks so much for this wonderful plugin!

Hi @leethobbit, thanks for introducing me to NaNoWriMo (I had never heard of it before). Unfortunately, I will not be able to release this feature by Nov 1st. I'm in the middle of my final exams, which is why I haven't been able to release updates for the past few months. However, updates should start coming out in December (Sorry that it won't be out by November)

Yeah, exams are far more important. Good luck with those!
