Allow both bytearrays and bytestrings #1

The code currently says that things must be bytestrings. Shouldn't bytearrays be allowed too?

(An excellent find by khorn, but I'm taking credit anyway)

Turns out this should be "buffer of bytes". Thanks, Yhg1s!
