Ubuntu Snappy Packages #1054
Comments
just do it - it is foss |
@agaida Where would I send the MP? |
You misunderstood a little bit - this is downstream work. Don't expect us to do your work. If you want to have snappy packages - make them. So i think making snappy packages is a pure downstream thing. |
@tsimonq2 I don't get your point... Is there something you need us to do? |
Hi, @tsimonq2. I believe no LXQt developer uses Ubuntu. So we don't see the need for it. However, even if we did, packaging is not done by ourselves. You should contact the Lubuntu guys. There are probably at it already. |
I would like to start the discussion about Ubuntu Snappy. For those of you who are not familiar with it, it allows for a package to build directly from upstream repos without a delay, and deliver that with a security advantage to it, because it contains the applications. It would be a good way to ship a developer's LXQt repository that could work on Ubuntu.
While it may seem like extra work, all it takes is defining a snapcraft.yaml file with where to download the files from, how to build it, and where to, and it should pretty much maintain itself.
https://developer.ubuntu.com/en/snappy/ for reference.
It would be great to have this. While it may not seem like your first priority, it would be nice to have for developers.
Thoughts?
