Hello,

I have been working on adding LXQt 1.0.0 in Gentoo. And I found a small something LXQt devs should go through to abide by the book in the XDG specifications. Indeed, LXQt apps create .desktop apps that have LXQt listed in the Categories Desktop Entry. Example from here

[Desktop Entry]
Type=Application
Exec=lxqt-config-powermanagement
Icon=preferences-system-power-management
Categories=Settings;DesktopSettings;Qt;LXQt;
OnlyShowIn=LXQt;

However, LXQt is not an officially supported keyword in the XDG specification (see here) but other DEs are.

I opened this bug report to suggest contacting the XDG Freedesktop mailing list so "LXQt" is officially added to the list above. And finally get desktop-file-validate command not warn (available here if you want to add it to a CI check) about it.

Thanks for your nice work!

LXQt is surprisingly less well-known. I think even xfce and mate-desktop are known better, which is peculiar.

It isn't strange. Xfce was started in 1996 and MATE is the continuation of GNOME2.
