title: "Content vs Perfection: Photo Galleries"
author: "Landon"

I started the draft on that [photography post]({{ site.baseurl }}{% post_url 2018-03-14-photography %}) on 3/8 or so. As of 3/19, I still haven't posted it. The reason, of course, was seeking perfection. I started that draft when I still used Blogger, on which I wrote only a single post before switching to Jekyll because it's more customizable. I wanted to include a mini-gallery in the photography post, and was unhappy with Blogger's options.

I participated in Google Code Jam for the first time last year, making it through the first two rounds to the round of 3000. I looked at the problems in the round of 3000 last year, but didn't happen to have time to actually make a good effort at solving any of them.

A few days ago I came across a really cool article from the NY Times tech team about [building a custom text editor](https://open.nytimes.com/building-a-text-editor-for-a-digital-first-newsroom-f1cb8367fc21). I wanted to share it with a few friends, and thought that a list of interesting links & commentary might make a good blog post. It might also be a good way for me to just archive my own thoughts and internet snippets I find interesting. Here goes:

MIT always has a 4 day weekend for Patriot's day - there's usually a lot of things going on around MIT and Boston as a whole - Marathon Monday is a pretty big deal, and Campus Preview Weekend for incoming prefrosh pretty frequently falls on this weekend. Straight To Taiwan, a pretty huge ATS event, also occasionally falls on this weekend. For the past 4 years, I've been scrambling around helping out with one event or another, but this year with no club responsibilities remaining, I had the whole weekend free, so I took the opportunity to visit NYC for a few days.
