Hello. I think this is already incorporated into Magento 1.13.1/1.8.1 codebase thanks to the https://github.com/magento/bugathon_march_2013/pull/231 pull request so should be merged into 2.x codebase in some time in the future. Can you please confirm the pull request covers this issue?

@seansan , we cloned the story for implementation of this feature to the Magento 2 project. As noted in the comment by @mage2-team , it was previously implemented for M1.x thanks to the contribution on the bugathon in March last year. We placed this story to the product backlog.

Please watch the repository for code updates. This issue is now closed.
