* Testing a new major version
** Increment version in app.yaml
** Upload & test version
** Set as default version in dashboard
** Increment version in maint/app.yaml
* Revoking/refreshing secure key
In case a session cookie theft happens, further damage can be
prevented by revoking the secure key stored in the datastore.
** In the Data Viewer, delete the single ZSecret object
** Make a small change to bucky.py (e.g. add a comment line)
(This is needed to poison the Python top-level cache.)
** Update the app with appcfg
python2.5 -d /path/to/google_appengine/appcfg.py update /path/to/bucky/
* Maintenance mode
In order to completely disable access to Buckybase it can be put into
maintenance mode. For this purpose, the `maint` directory contains a
small Python webapp that prints a message. Buckybase is replaced with
this app.
** Make sure that version in maint/app.yaml == bucky/app.yaml
** Edit the maintenance message inside bucky/maint/maint.py
** Test the maintenance app locally
python2.5 -d /path/to/google_appengine/dev_appserver.py /path/to/bucky/maint/
goto http://localhost:8080
** Update the app with appcfg
python2.5 -d /path/to/google_appengine/appcfg.py update /path/to/bucky/maint/
** Write an explanatory message to the Buckybase Status feed at Friendfeed
* Logging out all logged in users
** In the the data viewer set the secure_key property of the single ZSecret instance to "nologin"
** Make a small change to bucky.py (e.g. add a comment line)
(This is needed to poison the Python top-level cache.)
** Update the app with appcfg
** To restore login, see "revoking/refreshing key"
