error message: cannot read file, not a zip archive #1511

Hi. I'm new to tilemill. Just opening the application and can only seem to view one of the example projects (openstreets DC). When I try to open the others, I get an error that looks like this:
cannot open file: /Users/ninamoncrief/Documents/MapBox/cache/16c795c6-10m-admin-0-boundary-lines-land/16c795c6-10m-admin-0-boundary-lines-land.zip error: Not a zip archive
I've tried looking around the forum for an answer, but haven't figured it out yet. What's going on here?

HI @marcmoncrief - apologies in the delay on responding. I think the issue is that the downloads (which happen in the background for the sample projects) failed the first time. Can you manually delete the cache folder and try again? We are tracking this problem at #1517, so going to close this issue.

yes: /Users/ninamoncrief/Documents/MapBox/cache/. Just the cache folder should be enough. Then re-open TileMill, open a few of the sample projects, then wait very patiently for the downloads to happen in the background (without closing the app). It can take a while on a slow connection (~ 10) for the projects to get their first data and for the maps to show up.
