TL;DR: There seems to be a problem where a road is not connected that is represented in the map parts "upper palatine" and "middle franconia" both

Found an odd routing bug (Version 6.0.7)
First, we go a short piece of highway:

All is good
Next, we set the target a bit more north (50-100m)

Routing fails.

If the route starts further south, to the same destination, it will go all the way around that part of highway:

The bug is especially weird:

  • There is no map border here (Edit: there is one, see below)
  • This is all on one single part of a openstreetmap way, this one
  • This way has not been edited since 2014, and yet the bug can not be reproduced on the OSRM demo server
  • And, as a bonus point: The bug also occurs the other way round, even though the highway is mapped as two separated lanes in either direction

So this is either a bug of OSRM 4.6, or a bug in your map conversion process (i reproduced it with 160317 maps and 160510 maps)

Update:
I drove through the area it wants to avoid and complete chaos started
For at least 2 minutes it was trying to place me onto roads far away (outside of the view) and recalculate routes. It is like the road on the display is not even existing in the osrm routing database

Update for version 6.1.8 with new maps:
The issue got even worse
The part of the road is still not used:

Additionally it now wants me to magically jump to a bridge on layer=1, instead of the long, but at least working, way around:

The "old" 5.6 version with the unified maps did not have this problem
And it seems like I was wrong about the map border, there is one near here, where upper palatine and middle franconia overlap

Confirmed again in 7.1.3 with 2017.01.19 Maps
Slightly different manifestation when driving from south to north

I've run into this exact problem as well, routing from Abilene, Texas, to San Antonio, Texas.
1
If I start the route further south, the incorrect route is chosen:
2
If I set the endpoint far enough north, it works:
3
Here is what happens when the endpoint is slightly farther south: (On the map border overlap? How do I tell?)
