CSS selector shorthand relies on a "." for adding one or more class names:

div.my-class

Nested tags, currently, also use a dot:

app-tabs
  app-tabs.tab title="My Tab"

To avoid the conflicting use of a dot, we should switch to using a colon for nested tags:

app-tabs
  app-tabs:tab title="My Tab"
