Hi there 👋!

Data Science

My name is Martina, I am a data scientist by profession and a general data lover - I have always been fascinated by the idea of extracting quantitative information, challenge assumptions, prove facts. Data science is sometimes a difficult proposition, I like helping others enter the field or understand how to use data to solve a problem, I enjoy sharing what I have learned myself with people.

Because I love public speaking (on technical and non-technical topics, I've done a bunch of talks, you can see them here.

Science

I come from science, having done some academic research (in Physics, but I applied methods of statistical mechanics/complex systems to linguistics, studying the evolution of natural language), you can see my publications here.

Projects

  • 🖊 I wrote a bunch of notes on data science topics, it's a GitBook called Tales of Science and Data.
  • Other than analysing data, I also love displaying it in appealing ways: I do hand-drawn data vizzes, the project is called "doodledatcard" (Behance, Instagram, Twitter) - I am learning a lot about the best ways to visualise info & design!

Talk to me!

  • 💬 Ask me all about entering data science, what does it mean to be a DS, etc. - I'm happy to provide guidance
  • 📫 How to reach me: Twitter is great! LinkedIn works too.
  • 📝 I blog here.
  • Any chat you want to have about data vizzing topics or meta-data-science (how is the field evolving, what does it mean etc), I'd love to, please get in touch!
