Ability to add hashtags to lists

The current way of following subjects via hashtag is by having a pinned search result column with added hashtags. This is a feature of the multi column layout. If we use the mobile layout, or the simplified layout becomes the default, we lose this ability. I don't think the use case is best served by a UI solution anyway, but is the same kind of thing as defining a list of people. So I'd like to bump the above suggestion, to have the ability to add hashtags as well as people in lists. Hopefully the implementation that currently fills the pinned search result column can be transported to the list system.

(actually following hashtags in your home timeline may be a different thing)

I second the suggestion to be able to follow hashtags in specific lists. That way one can follow a collection of related hashtags by opening a view of their own list, a collection of hashtags and/or people.

This would be a significant improvement over just pinning followed hashtags as there are often multiple different tags which may cover the same subject. Being able to add them to lists would allow us to pin a single list with all the tags we feel fit a particular subject or theme without having to switch through all of them.

@MoonfirePDX are you aware you can add more than one hashtag to a pinned column in advanced view? Up to four iirc. Not saying that solves the issue - I still think hashtags should be addable to lists - but maybe it gives you a little more functionality until we have hashtags in lists.

Still in 2023 this would be a useful feature.
