GeoIPCity.dat error in UIAssetCacheBuster.php

in release 2 and all its updates ,when i upload the file GeoIPCity.dat to the misc folder,i get this error when i visit the geolocation menu in the settings:

Error in PHP GeoIP provider:
file_get_contents
(/usr/home/attinom.net/www/lysis/.git/refs/heads/master):
failed to open stream: No such file or directory on line 33 of /usr/home/attinom.net/www/lysis/core/AssetManager/UIAssetCacheBuster.php

and geolocation settings cannot be accessed

whats with the .git directory?
