This is displayed on screen: General_ExceptionConfigurationFileNotFound in some cases. It was reported in the forums.

A fix is suggested in this same forum thread:

 For me it works well after setting the "tmp" directory as writable.

Tasks:

  • Why is this message displayed, and why setting tmp to writable fixes it?
  • can we detect and prevent this error?

I can confirm that. chmod o+w tmp does the trick.

Does the error still occur when using Piwik > 2.9.1 ?

I never had the error again, but I can't really test it ATM.
