I agree with having this here, but as a mental note to self as much as anything else, the screenshots page is not another gallery.

lib/matplotlib/dates.py
Like Python's datetime, mpl uses the Gregorian calendar for all conversions
between dates and floating point numbers. This practice is not universal,
and calendar differences can cause confusing differences between what
Python and mpl give as the number of days since 0001-01-01 and what other
software and databases yield. For example, the `US Naval Observatory
- <http://www.usno.navy.mil/USNO/astronomical-applications/
-data-services/jul-date>`_
+ <http://www.usno.navy.mil/USNO/astronomical-applications/data-services/jul-date>`_

I think the pep8 test will shout at you for this. I don't know the best way to handle this url...@NelleV?

Long URL are a bit annoying: one solution could be to use a url shortener.

In this particular instance, we might be able to just do without the link...

lib/matplotlib/colorbar.py
The orientation of the colorbar. Typically, this keyword shouldn't
- be used, as it can be derived from the **location** keyword.
+ be used, as it can be derived from the `location` keyword.

Pretty sure this is supposed to be double back quote marks, not single.

In the new numpydoc format that we're trying to move to, it's single. This isn't quite a numpydoc comment yet, so it's questionable whether that's right.
