<h2 id="about-us"><span>Who</span> are we?</h2>
<p><a href="http://yehudakatz.com/" title="Yehuda Katz">Yehuda Katz</a> and <a href="http://merbist.com/" title="Matt Aimonetti">Matt Aimonetti</a>, both <strong>Merb core team members</strong>, have between them more than <strong>20 years of web development experience</strong>.</p>

<strong>Yehuda</strong> is well known for his involvement in projects like <a href="http://jquery.com/">jQuery</a> and <a href="http://datamapper.org">DataMapper</a>. He is currently employed by <a href="http://engineyard.com">Engine Yard</a>, working full time on <a href="http://merbivore.com">Merb</a></strong> and <a href="http://www.rubyonrails.org">Rails</a>; he is a Core Team member on both projects, which recently announced plans for a merger. Yehuda is often invited to present at conferences, including <a href="http://rubyconf.org">RubyConf</a>, <a href="http://railsconf.com">RailsConf</a>, <a href="http://merbcamp.com">MerbCamp</a>, and <a href="http://jquery.com/">jQuery Camp</a>. He is an <strong>experienced instructor</strong>, with previous classroom experience.</div>

<strong>Matt</strong> runs a <a href="http://ma-agile.com/">consulting company</a> in <strong>San Diego, CA</strong>
offering <strong>consulting, training and development.</strong>
In addition to his day job, Matt works on the <a href="http://book.merbist.com">Merb Open Source Book</a>, and is a member of the new <a href="http://www.rubyonrails.org">Rails</a> Evangelism Team.
Before <strong><a href="http://merbivore">Merb</a></strong>, Matt was an <strong>active Rails contributor</strong>. He wrote many <a href="http://github.com/mattetti">Ruby gems and Rails plugins</a> and is currently running <a href="http://railsontherun.com">two</a> popular <a href="http://merbist.com">blogs</a>.</div>

<h2><span>What</span> do we cover?</h2>
<p>Yehuda and Matt decided to <strong>share their knowledge</strong> of Merb with people who are interested in <strong>building flexible and powerful web applications</strong> using the Merb web framework.</p>

<p>The Merb training course is an interactive, hands-on workshop covering an <strong>in-depth presentation of the Merb framework</strong>, its <strong>internals</strong>, the <strong>various available components</strong> and finally, the <strong>Merb way to develop and test a powerful and flexible web application</strong>.</p>
<p>In <strong>three days</strong>, you'll learn how to <strong>pick and choose</strong> the <strong>right components</strong> for you, based on <strong>your</strong> project requirements. You will learn the <strong>latest techniques</strong> and <strong>best practices</strong> to build full-featured and flexible applications in no time. Finally, you will learn how to write <strong>code you can use and reuse</strong> in order to bring <strong>more business value</strong> to your products and more efficiency to your daily work.</p>

<h2><span>Who</span> is it for?</h2>

<p>The class is primarily targeting <strong>experienced web developers</strong> who want to build <strong>efficient and flexible</strong> web applications.</p>
<p>When designing our curriculum, <strong>we thought of you as someone</strong>:</p>

<li>"fluent" in an <strong>Object-oriented language</strong> (such as Ruby, Java, C#, Python, PHP...)</li>
<li>who has already built at least a <strong>database-backed web application</strong> (using MySQL, Postgres, Oracle...)</li>
<li>who has already used an <strong>MVC web framework</strong>, like Rails, Django, Struts, CakePHP, Code Igniter, Symfony, etc. -- or at least is familiar with the MVC paradigm</li>
<li>who wants to learn how to <strong>write proper, tested and efficient code</strong></li>
<li>who <strong>might</strong> want to <strong>learn how to scale</strong> an existing application</li>
<li>who <strong>might</strong> want to <strong>migrate a legacy application to Merb</strong></li>
<li>who <strong>thinks outside the box</strong></li>
