⚠️ The Meddelare project has been shut down

The Meddelare social share buttons/counters project has been shut down as of 2020-12-07. No updates will be made and the source code will possibly be deleted in the future. Please download what you need as soon as possible.

The reason for the shutdown is that Meddelare never gained enough momentum to keep up with the frequent changes of the major social media companies. In some cases the companies also made major changes to the public access of per-URL share/like/etcetera counters, such as making access to the data a restricted or paid service, effectively shutting out small third-party projects such as Meddelare. A social share button without a working share counter is not much more than a styled link tag, hence the server-side focused Meddelare project has played out its role.
