There are a couple of potential issues here.


  • Robot filtering can be done with HTTP::BrowserDetect and should be accurate enough
  • Add a record on a new table when a text is downloaded (not just
    viewed). Bookbuilder should count more.
  • Stuff the uri in the session to avoid duplicates.
  • Then sort by counting the records in the last week/month or so.


  • If a page with the popular texts are provided, there is the risk
    that being used as a starting point, initial popular texts are
    going to be always popular.

    Maybe the weight of the currently popular texts should be lowered.
