What kind of response should be given here? A 500 response to bad input isn't necessarily unreasonable.

HTTP already has a response for "bad input": "400 Bad Request". A 500 error means that something unexpectedly failed on the server side.

In theory it would be better to send this, but trying to send a correct response to every possible case of malformed input makes a lot of programming work for only a very small gain.

We return a full ES stack trace now.
