fresh install missing examples folder #1721

i installed meteor on a debian wheezy 7.2 vm via npm install -g meteor
meteor version is 0.5.2
shouldnt it install the latest?

then i try meteor create app

i get this error

creating an empty folder named examples or copying the examples from git into /usr/lib/node_modules/meteor/examples fixes the problem, but this should be there by defaul

Is there anything in your smart.json and what do you have anything in .meteor/versions? Try running meteor update and mrt update to see if that will fix it. Since you installed it with npm you might also need to add the npm package. I'm guessing you followed this for your install?

The meteor package on NPM is an unofficial fork that has been unmaintained since the day it was created. I have asked @substack to either take it down or keep it up to date, but he has ignored my emails.

Install meteor using the instructions on meteor.com:

$ curl https://install.meteor.com | sh
