Can you please put this issue (a disclaimer) at the very beginning of the Readme file (or the post)?

Most people use Zotero with Zotfile extension (linked attachments).

I went through all the processes of setting up, and running the commands, only to learn later that this script doesn't work for linked attachments.

What a waste of time.

Have you made me know from the beginning, I would have never installed it.

It's right there in the introduction – is this really not early enough? I mean, surely people read at least that far before trying to install it?

Also, what is the "post" to which you are referring?

OK. I'll try to insert a parenthetical remark earlier in the text. I mean I'm not trying to hide it or waste people's time, it's just that I thought it was clear enough, but I guess it's not.

Sorry, I was in a bit rush to get the links written to the finder comment. I am getting just "
Unable to retrieve Zotero record for .... " message.

But, my files are managed by Zotfile. Here you suggested that using Zotfile is not a problem.

I'm working on a new release and am putting some more notes about not using linked attachments.

With respect to Zotfile: yes, I use Zotfile. Zotfile works with local files, which is why it can be used with Zowie.

I added mention of this in the repo description, which is the first thing people see on github for the project. Hopefully this and other things will be enough.
