All was working fine, I left the moon and when I returned the beam still shows but the receiver doesn't render and power isn't transferred. I have a transmitter on a storage unit(in one chunk) and the receiver on a terraformer (in another chunk). Both chunks should load close to the same time when I "beam" into the dimension, they are both next to the chunk I pop into. I don't think it's an issue with chunk loading though, my solar farm's use them exclusively now. They cover at least 2 chunks and I don't have this issue on them. In the second screen shot, you can see that there is "something" there, I had to break it and replace with a new one (I didn't get one when I broke it) to get it working again

btw, this will repro if you move far enough away to unload the chunk. And I do get the receiver back if I rotate the block with a wrench, it just "pop's" into the air.

I too am getting this issue now with beam receivers. It's still there, but when I unload the chunk alot of them 'go invisible', they are still salvagable, but they do not do anything when they are like this..

Is there still energy transferring properly?

It does not when they are invisible.

Please confirm if this bug still happens, because I can't reproduce it, even with chunk reload and dimension change.

Tested with 423:

If no answer, I recommend closing this issue.

With further testing I discovered something "buggy". I tried to build this setup:

2016-01-17_03 16 37

The beam receivers don't always work.

Place the following blocks in the order as follows:

  1. solar panel
  2. energy storage module
  3. terraformer.
  4. beam receiver on the solar panel output. beam receiver is red, good!
  5. beam receiver on the energy storage module input. beam receiver is green and connects, good!
  6. beam receiver on the energy storage module out. beam receiver is red, good!
  7. beam receiver on the terraformer input. beam receiver is green and does NOT connect, bad!!!

2016-01-17_03 23 50

Then I remove the beam receiver from the energy storage module input, the beam receivers between the energy storage module output and the terraformer get fixed!

Then I place back the beam receiver on the energy storage module input, it works as shown in the 1st pic.

Oh interesting ... :)

Before, I was seeing derpy Beam Receivers when placed in places where it was doubtful they should go, like on Aluminium Wire (now disabled). I'm not convinced that behaviour has totally stopped, plan to test some more also with IC2, Mek and some RF mod as well.

Couldn't reproduce in GC3 1.7.10 501.

@radfast,

I'm not convinced that behaviour has totally stopped, plan to test some more also with IC2, Mek and some RF mod as well.

Is there actually any interest in supporting those mods? You can just place a GC Energy Storage as adapter/converter.

As to Mekanism, test with Energy Cube:

  1. It's possible to place a beam receiver (green) on the input faces (all the faces but the one facing the player on placement).
  2. Not possible to place the beam receptor (red) on the output face.

Test with Advanced Solar Generator and Wind Generator: Same as (2) above.
